Frequently Asked Questions
Have Questions? We've Got Answers!
At Next Stop Notary, we want your notarization experience to be simple, convenient, and stress-free.
Below are answers to some of our most frequently asked questions to help you prepare for your appointment.
1. What is a mobile notary?
A mobile notary is a commissioned notary public who travels to your preferred location to perform authorized notarial services.
At Next Stop Notary, we come to you! Whether you're at home, at work, or another agreed-upon location, we make notarization convenient.
2. What areas do you serve?
We are based in Apopka, Florida, and proudly serve Orlando, Altamonte Springs, Winter Park, Maitland, Longwood, Lake Mary, Sanford, Ocoee, Winter Garden, and surrounding Central Florida communities.
Appointments outside our primary service area may be available upon request.
3. How much does notarization cost?
Florida generally permits a maximum fee of $10 per standard notarial act.
Because we provide mobile services, a separate travel fee applies based on the one-way driving distance from our designated starting location in Apopka.
Our travel fees begin at $20, and your total estimated cost will be provided before your appointment is confirmed.
4. Is a deposit required to book?
Yes! A $10 booking deposit is required to secure your appointment.
Your deposit will be applied toward your final balance. Any remaining amount will be due at your appointment.
Our cancellation and refund terms will be provided before payment.
5. What type of identification do I need?
You will generally need a current, government-issued photo ID acceptable under Florida notary law.
Common examples include:
-
Florida driver's license
-
Florida identification card
-
U.S. passport
-
Other forms of identification accepted under Florida law
Certain expired IDs may also qualify under Florida law. Please contact us ahead of time if you're unsure whether your identification is acceptable.
6. Should I sign my documents before the appointment?
It depends on the type of notarization.
Some documents require you to sign in the notary's presence, while others may allow you to acknowledge a signature you previously made.
If you're unsure, wait until your appointment or contact us for general notarial guidance.
7. Do you provide witnesses?
Please let us know if your document requires witnesses when booking your appointment.
Witness arrangements must be discussed and confirmed in advance. Some documents require witnesses in addition to the notary.
8. Can you notarize a power of attorney?
Yes, we can notarize eligible power of attorney documents.
Please have your document prepared before the appointment and ensure any required witnesses are available.
We do not draft power of attorney documents or provide legal advice.
9. Do you offer hospital or nursing home visits?
Yes! We offer mobile notary appointments at hospitals, nursing homes, assisted living facilities, and rehabilitation centers, subject to availability and facility policies.
The person signing must be willing, aware of what they are signing, and able to communicate their intentions.
10. Can you notarize a document for someone who doesn't have an ID?
Florida law permits certain alternative identification methods, including qualifying credible witnesses, when all legal requirements are satisfied.
Please contact us before booking so we can discuss whether an authorized identification method may be available.
11. Do you offer same-day appointments?
Same-day appointments may be available depending on our schedule and your location.
We recommend booking ahead whenever possible to secure your preferred appointment time.
12. Can you help me fill out or prepare my documents?
We can explain the notarial process and identify the information required to complete the notarial certificate.
However, we cannot provide legal advice, select legal forms for you, or prepare legal documents unless separately authorized by law.
Please have your documents prepared before your appointment.
13. What happens if my appointment needs to be canceled or rescheduled?
